RCR = Run Carry Run.
F5K = Farmer 5K.
This is not a PR your last 5K kind of race.
It’s a problem-solving race.
A composure race.
A “how bad do you want to keep moving forward?” race.
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to train with more intent this winter…
If you like events that reward strength, endurance, and resilience…
If you want to earn the finish—this is for YOU!
How it works
You'll run for 1.05 miles...
(unloaded)
then farmer carry for 1 mile...
(men: 24kg KB ea hand | women: 16kg KB ea hand)
and finish with a final 1.05 mile run.
(unloaded)
(Come on, you didn't think we'd make it that simple, did you?!)
The farmer carry takes place on a ½-mile loop.
You’ll start carrying kettlebells and attempt to complete a full mile.
But every time you set the bells down, there’s a cost.
The penalty:
Yes—the race gets longer the more you rest.
Yes—that’s intentional.
(Insert evil laugh.)
The result:
The race becomes a test of grip, posture, pacing, and decision-making under fatigue.
You’re on your own for the entire event. Every decision—when to push the pace, when to pull back, when to pay the cost—is yours.
Men will carry a 24kg kettlebell in each hand for the farmer carry.
Women will carry a 16kg kettlebell in each hand for the farmer carry.
Same course. Same rules. Same weights.
One key difference:
After completing the penalty run, partners may switch who is carrying. This allows one athlete to recover while the other keeps the bells moving.
Both partners must complete every penalty run. Partners must stay together at all times, including the runs and the finish.
So, doubles lets you trade a little suffering for speed.
Bonus shoutouts for top splits and grit performances
Your time is tracked through all three legs:
Run → Carry → Run
No stopwatch. No guesswork. Just your results—automatically recorded.
(Covers both participants)
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When does the race start?
RCR | F5K uses wave starts so the course flows smoothly and everyone has space to move.
Do I have to train for this?
You should be comfortable running and carrying load under fatigue. That usually means training both aerobic capacity and strength—especially grip and posture.
Just like anyone can walk a 5K while others give their everything and go sub-15:00, anyone can casually complete an RCR | F5K.
The difference?
The carries are the differentiator — but that’s the point.
💡 If you want to show up confident and ready to crush it, Beyond Strength's Say YES Training programs (in-person and online) are built to prepare you for challenges exactly like this.
Are friends and family allowed come watch?
Absolutely — the more energy on race day, the better.
Spectators are welcome at the start/finish area and along sections of the course. We’ll make sure they can cheer you on without getting in the way of competitors.
💡 Tip: Tell them to bring a camera and a loud voice — great crowd energy makes a big difference when you’re grinding through the carry or the final ruck.
What if it rains?
We’re racing. Rain or shine.
A little weather just adds to the challenge — and we’re here for it.
The only reason we’d call it off is if conditions are deemed unsafe (severe storms, flooding, etc.).
If that happens, we’ll set a raincheck date to March 29th and transfer all registrations.
What weights are used for the farmer carry and do I need to bring my own?
All weights are provided.
Is Doubles easier than Solo?
Doubles allows you to manage fatigue and pacing more strategically, but the penalties, distance, and demands are the same. Poor communication or rushed decisions still cost you, but the overall workload is shared.
So, yeah, it's a little easier on paper. But you can make it as hard as you're willing to push the pace.
What if I can't finish?
You can.
That’s the short answer.
RCR | F5K is built so anyone can complete it — you can slow down, set the bells down during the carry and walk your penalty.
But if something really happens where you can’t finish, you don’t have to push through. Safety is our top priority. Event staff will be on course to assist if needed.
💡 If you don’t complete all three legs, you won’t receive the finisher sticker — those are earned.
What kind of prizes can I earn?
