What is the RCR | KBM?

KBM = KETTLEBELL MILE.

You’ll carry a single kettlebell for one all-out mile. No help. No shortcuts.

Switch hands when needed. Rest if you have to.

But the bell stays with you—and the clock keeps ticking until you cross the finish line.

How it works

This is our simplest event we put on all year, but don't mistake simple for easy...

you'll SUITCASE CARRY

That's one kettlebell, held at your side...

(men: 24kg KB | women: 16kg KB)

SWITCH HANDS AS NEEDED

... but, if possible, don't put that sucker down!

and RACE 1 MILE TO THE FINISH

...where you'll earn your finisher prizes

(and maybe even win a kettlebell)

⏱️ Full Race Timing + Event Splits

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We've got the A's to your Q's

When does the race start?

RCR | F5K uses wave starts so the course flows smoothly and everyone has space to move.

  • The first wave kicks off at 8:00 AM, and following waves go off as others finish.

Do I have to train for this?

I mean, you can suffer through it without training ... but.

💡 If you want to show up confident and ready to crush it, Beyond Strength's Say YES Training programs (in-person and online) are built to prepare you for challenges exactly like this.

Are friends and family allowed come watch?

Absolutely — the more energy on race day, the better.

Spectators are welcome at the start/finish area and along sections of the course. We’ll make sure they can cheer you on without getting in the way of competitors.

💡 Tip: Tell them to bring a camera and a loud voice — great crowd energy makes a big difference when you’re grinding through the carry or the final ruck.

What if it rains?

We’re racing. Rain or shine.

A little weather just adds to the challenge — and we’re here for it.

The only reason we’d call it off is if conditions are deemed unsafe (severe storms, flooding, etc.).

If that happens, we’ll set a raincheck date to June 28th and transfer all registrations.

What weights are used for the suitcase carry and do I need to bring my own?

  • Male: 24kg kettlebell
  • Female: 16kg kettlebell

Weights are provided at the race.

Is there any penalty for putting the weight down and resting?

No, this isn't the RCR | F5K ha! You can set the kettlebell down, free of penalty, any time. BUT, the clock keeps ticking... so, KEEP GOING!

What if I can't finish?

You can.

That’s the short answer.

RCR | KBM is built so anyone can complete it — you can slow down, even set the bell down and rest.

But if something really happens where you can’t finish, you don’t have to push through. Safety is our top priority. Event staff will be on course to assist if needed.

💡 If you don’t complete the mile, you won’t receive the finisher t-shirt and sticker — those are earned.

What kind of prizes can I earn?

Race Awards 🏆

  • All participants that complete the race will earn an RCR | KBM t-shirt and sticker.
  • The top finisher in each division (mens and womens) will be awarded a kettlebell.

THE MILE EXPOSES WHAT'S REAL.

Your hands will ache. Your grip will fade.

What’s left is who you are.

Let's find out.
